Ready to expand your sock skills? Learn a super easy alternative heel and add a little lace for style. The Olive Branch socks, by Violet Green, feature top down construction, a basic leaf lace pattern and 3 adult sizes. Create a flexible edge with the German Twisted Cast on. While the pattern calls for a classic heel flap, this class will substitute a quick heel developed by Gerdine Crawford-Strong (hence the “Strong” heel). Gusset stitches are worked on either side while the heel is built, so no heel flap!! Finish up with a grafted toe utilizing the Kitchener stitch. Pattern instructions are given both for double points and for circular needles using the Magic Loop technique. A Magic Loop technique class is offered prior to this class for anyone unfamiliar with this approach. Difficulty: This class is appropriate for adventurous beginners who wants to learn to knit socks.
