Happy Day! As the temperature is cooling off, things are heating up at the yarn store! Lots of new sweater and shawl patterns are being released and we've got the yarn ready for them!
*****Hurricane Helene Relief Effort by Oak City Fibers Update. The Wake Forest Fire Department (WFFD) announced Tuesday, Oct. 8, that Wake Forest Fire Station #1, 420 Elm Ave., will stop serving as a Hurricane Helene collection site on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. Thanks to the generous contributions of community members, the WFFD has delivered over 250 pallets of food and other supplies to western North Carolina, along with over 40 pallets of water. Although Fire Station #1 will no longer serve as a collection site after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, the WFFD will continue accepting monetary donations online. Cash and checks written to the Wake Forest Firefighters Foundation are also accepted. All monetary donations will be used to support recovery efforts in western North Carolina. As of Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 8, monetary donations, including online contributions, cash, and checks, totaled $105,840 THANK YOU to EVERYONE that has already donated! Oak City Fibers is forever grateful for each and every person in our community for being a part of this program.
Oak City Fibers is a proud sponsor of the Knitted Knockers Program. Our local Coordinator, Lacey has sent an urgent help request she received from UNC Rex & Duke. Both hospitals are in need of size B and C knockers! If you have any at home or have time to knit/crochet some, please let me know and bring them in for donation!
Our ONE YEAR Anniversary Party is being planned as we speak! Mark your calendars for FRIDAY, November 1, 2024 AND SATURDAY, November 2, 2024 to come shopping and celebrate this huge milestone for Oak City Fibers! We will have all kinds of goodies and promotions! Stay tuned!

October 2024 brings TWO Knit-A-Longs for Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop! I am hosting the MKAL by Stephen West called the GO GO Dynamo and a smaller, quick knit hat called Minted by Andrea Mowry! The shop sample of Minted is made in Queen City Yarns Latta held with Queen City Bernice (SuriAlpaca/Silk). We have kits available in Queen City Yarns, Moondrake,29 Bridges Sport and many more options! The Minted pattern will be included in your kit! For the Stephen West MKAL, I am excited to be using our new Bad Sheep Fingering Yarn colorway "Circle of Kindness" with Emma's Practically Perfect Sock in the colorway: "Trendy AF" contrasting color! Give me a Happy Day by coming in and letting me help you pick out your colorways this week to join in either KAL!
