Happy Day! WOW! Can Ya'll believe OAK CITY FIBERS IS NOW 6 Months Old!! Time is flying! We are loving it and so thankful! I am back from "Going to Market" aka- H&H America's Trade Show in Chicago! I brought back a starter amount of NEW YARNs in a suitcase so come in the shop this week and check it out and snag up some new yarn! It's already online too! I had a blast and met so many people! Found new products and placed lots of orders! Look at the end of the newsletter for some trip pics and our store sign! Be sure to watch my Instagram/Facebook posts for announcements of new stuff!

The Circle of Kindness has seen lots of change the past couple weeks! The circle always brings out a fun quote and continues to be such a great place to bring joy and happiness to others! Quote of the week: "I put that around my neck and felt like a Flight Attendant". We continue to live, love and laugh!

Looking ahead, we have Rick of Whimzee Stitches Designs coming for a Trunk Show of his beautiful yarn and bags on My Birthday (June 7), PRIDE MONTH Kick Off and the return of TRIANGLE YARN CRAWL! Yes, Triangle Yarn Crawl is returning the weekend of June 7-9th, 2024! Mark your calendars and plan to come out and support the TYC and visit all the shops in the Triangle Area and let's party the whole weekend with fiber and possibly birthday cake!

Our next Knit-A-Long for May has begun on Wednesdays. Come join us for creating the Mingling Daisies by Stephen West. We have a LOT of fingering weight yarn, at all different price points and color choices to choose from in our shop. You can work on the KAL ANYTIME you're in the shop or at home!

Whimzee Stitches Designs will be here for a fantastic Trunk Show and to celebrate My Birthday(June 7), PRIDE MONTH and Triangle Yarn Crawl! Come out and support Oak City Fibers and Rick of Whimzee Stitches Designs on Friday, June 7th and Saturday June 8th!

Triangle Yarn Crawl will be June 7, 8, 9th! We have 7 stores participating and we've been working hard on the planning! I love it when the Fiber community comes together to promote Fiber Arts! Oak City Fibers will be open all 3 days *(including Sunday) for your shopping convenience

The Mingling Daisies Shawl is our Knit-A-Long for May. Designed by Stephen West it is knit in one of our favorite yarns: Jill Draper Mohonk Litewhich is a fingering weightnon-superwash yarn. This is the my (Glen's) Mingling Daisies Shawlprogress for our Knit-A-Long. I'm knitting this in Freia Fibers Yarn Bombcolorway Aloha! It is a fingering weight yarn ball containing 860 yards of 100% merino. It is a true joy to knit with this yarn and this pattern! Come see it in person or online at Oak City Fibers and pick your yarn bomb out! #aintitpurdee

Oak City Fibers; Emmas Simply Spectacular DK;

This is the Bronwyn Shawl designed by Toni Lipsey. Ann and I worked together to pick out her colorways. She chose Malabrigo Arroyo in the colorways: Frank Ochre and Greenish Blue. She used Emma's Simply Spectacular DK in the colorway "Whisper"...It is GORGEOUS! #aintitpurdee

Donna completed this "Hugging Again" capelet by Diane Augustin using Malabrigo Rios in the Arco Iris colorway! Download your pattern and come get some Rios for this nice drapey capelet! Great work Donna and thanks for your continued support! #aintitpurdee

That's me with Rachelle and Morgan, her husband. Rachelle is the owner and Dyer of MOONDRAKE Yarn that I sell @OakCityFibers! She is so creative and has a truly colorful personality. It was such a pleasure for me to meet her and spend time with her and Morgan. Keep in mind, when you purchase yarn in my shop, it is real people creating it. Your financial support keeps their and my dreams alive! We appreciate you, our Community!

OMG ya'll! I met this lady ya'll! Channy! Her energy and love just flows like butter in a biscuit! She lifts my heart in so many ways! ChannyPeasCorner is a truly unique shop! She creates pins for project bags, or whatever you need! She and I will be collaborating for some Oak City Fibers swag soon! Keep your eyes out for some upcoming 'fun stuff' from Channy! It's all about YARN AND COMMUNITY!

Here's OUR sign! WOOHOO! This means so much to me! Not just the money but this is OUR COMMUNITY SIGN! I think ya'll know, I've poured my heart and soul into creating a community at our shop and I'm just overwhelmed with thankfulness and joy! I've been waiting and working with City of Raleigh and The Landlord, and GoSign Shop for over 6 months to get this beauty installed! Betsy of GoSign Shop is a crafter as well and she's been wonderful to work with on this project. It's been VERY stressful and expensive so please look up, take pride (cause you're part of it too) when you come visit and enjoy! #aintitpurdee

Last week while I was gone to Market, the Landlord had our building painted and this is what it looked like! It's all finished now and looks fabulous! Very refreshing and you can clearly find us! Thank you for your patience while this was going on! I'm forever grateful for my Community and my Employees, Ann, Cyndal, Alyssa, and Betsy for your support! Also, I can't thank my wonderful husband, Chris, my rock, my love, enough for listening to me and encouraging me each day!
