Happy Day! Wowza! What a great week at Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop! I love our community and so proud of all the finished projects and newly cast on projects I am seeing from everyone! Your creativity is astounding! The African Flower Pig Class is rather popular, so we've added it to the class schedule! Check it out here as it's starting in October!
Ann, our Store Manager, visited us last Friday and she is doing very well! She is recuperating nicely at home and doing her PT as instructed!

***New from Queen City Yarns out of Charlotte, BERNICE! Their new line of 75% Suri Alpaca, 25% Silk Weight: Approx. 50 grams, Length 459 yards in 21 different custom colorways have arrived at Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop! Bernice works great as the main yarn for those ultra squishy projects, and is also great held together with other yarns to give projects that lovely halo effect. When dyed, Bernice’s saturated silky core fades into downy edges coalescing to a watercolor appearance. Bernice is a great substitute for mohair, but it’s so much softer, it’s more like an upgrade! Go check it out online and come in the shop for some petting of this luxurious new yarn. This is for a limited time and Oak City Fibers has EVERY colorway IN STOCK NOW! I've also restocked all colorways of Queen City's Latta! (Sport weight non-superwash!)

We have selected the September 2024 Knit-A-Long for Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop and it's the Malabrigo Rios September KAL is the Lehigh pattern by Melanie Berg! This pattern is fun and will turn out gorgeous. The pattern yarn requirements are 4 skeins of the main color and 2 skeins of a contrasting colorway in Malabrigo Rios. See our shop sample below and the Malabrigo Sample pic! I have 34 colorways of Rios in stock for you to choose from for the perfect color combo! Come in and grab your Malabrigo Rios and cast on with me tomorrow!

Alyssa knit this shop sample out of our new Bernice by Queen City Yarns and Latta by Queen City Yarns. The pattern is "Minted" by Andrea Mowry Thank you Alyssa for knitting shop samples for us and all your hard work! Y'all need to come in and feel this hat! It's all non-superwash yarns and feels heavenly even on my bald head! We have 21 colorways to choose from with all coordinating Latta and Bernice colors!

Ann is one of our dedicated Winey Wednesday knitters and she only knits in 3 colors: Red, Black and an occassional Gray! She knit this gorgeous "Piano Strings Wrap by Annette Melahns" Ann used Magpie Swanky Sock in the colorway: Baby Got Black. It is absolutely beautiful with all the texture! Jan completed this vest using Malabrigo Rios. She has been knitting for years and created the pattern herself by using different sections of other patterns she's knit in the past! It turned out very pretty! Well done Jan! Thanks for your support of Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop!

Jan also created this pattern for a cabled cardigan for herself to wear to England soon! She combined elements from other patterns much like the way she created the vest! WOW!
