Happy Day! Welcome October! It's cooling off and prime knit/crochet season has arrived! Oak City Fibers is ready for all your new projects in your queue!
*****Hurricane Helene Relief Effort for Oak City Fibers. We will be a donation drop off point for Hurricane Helene Relief efforts. We will deliver donated items to the Wake Forest Fire Department for them to deliver the donations to the effected areas collection points. Please click here for a list of items that you can donate or make a monetary donation. As most of you know, a Yarn Shop is a small business that HEAVILY relies on you, our community, to purchase yarns, notions, bags etc and when a Yarn shop is closed unexpectedly for many days, or unknown number of days, it can be detrimental to remaining in business. I have reached out to many of the Western NC yarn shops and we are trying to help them. I will be posting more about that as efforts to help are formalized. I will also accept monetary donations in the shop if you prefer to give financially.
I love working with Indy Dyers and coming up with exclusive color combos! I've been in collaboration with Marcie of Bad Sheep Yarn and we have created an exclusive colorway for Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop called "Circle of Kindness." The team at Bad Sheep Yarn did an excellent job listening to my specifics on a 'fingering, white base with lots of speckles.' Come in the shop today and snag your skein before they sell out!
NEW YARN RESTOCK! Queen City Yarn, Bernice (Suri Alpaca/Silk),Queen CIty Latta, Malabrigo, Berroco, Bad Sheep, Moondrake, and Kelbourne Woolens have all arrived this past week! View these great yarns online or come in and check them out! We have sweater quantity in many colorways! Mix and match and let's get the creativity going!
NEW Malabrigo Yarn Base - Seis Cabos is on the "Wall-a-Brigo" at Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop. This six-ply, non-superwash pure merino wool with a high twist the gives the yarn a lot of structure and bounce. Due to its six-ply construction, Seis Cabos is a versatile yarn with great elasticity and strength. Alyssa knit up a shop sample for us to touch and feel and she really liked the yarn. A pic of the project is below: The Sonatine Cowl.
Malabrigo also released a NEW colorway: Old Rose! It's in stock at Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop in bases: Ultimate Sock and Rios! Snap yours up today...it is BEAUTIFUL!
October 2024 brings TWO Knit-A-Longs for Oak City Fibers Yarn Shop! I will be hosting the MKAL by Stephen West called the GO GO Dynamo and a smaller, quick knit hat called Minted by Andrea Mowry! We have kits available in Queen City Yarns, Moondrake,29 Bridges Sport and many more options! The Minted pattern will be included in your kit! For the Stephen West MKAL, I am excited to be using our new Bad Sheep Fingering Yarn colorway "Circle of Kindness" with a vibrant contrasting color! It would make a Happy Day for me to help you pick out your colorways this week to join in either KAL!
