Enter the world of making your own yarn on a hand drop spindle; an ancient tool that’s still in use today. The combination of the spindles portability and its ability to make fine to thick yarns makes it a practical choice for modern spinning. No prior spinning experience necessary. This is a great entry and foundation building for learning to spin on a wheel. Instructor can provide spindles for students to use, which they will have the option to purchase. Spindles are hand crafted by the instructor and cost $30.
In this class students will learn how to prep the fiber to start a single ply yarn on a spindle, apply the “park and draft” technique, learn how to take the yarn off the spindle, learn how to 2ply their yarn, and how to prep the skein for other fiber crafts.
